Some senior clubs are cooler than others. In California there is a group of older surfers who hang out on their regular spot at the beach and are known by the name Wallbenders. They are tight knit and have become their own informal support club.
I met the Wallbenders in Jeffries Bay in South Africa. They travelled there to surf the waves they have dreamed of since they were young.
Unfortunately their "leader" Rolf Sorenson (he would never call himself the leader) has gotten very ill. The insurance does not cover all expenses and it is becoming a burden mentally and physically. The other Wallbenders started a fundraiser to get Rolf aka The Snake back in the water:
